Tate McRae's new single "Housewife" drops tomorrow, October 15, 2026. It's the lead single from TM4, her fourth studio album, and the image she's leading with signals a full reinvention. Here's when to listen, what the song is about, and the Lollapalooza Easter Egg she hid 2 months before saying a word.
"Housewife" Release Date and What We Know About the Time
"Housewife" releases on October 15, 2026 via RCA Records. Tate officially announced it on October 7, 2026.
An 8 p.m. ET drop time has been circulating online, but no major outlet, including Billboard, Capital FM, or Nylon, has confirmed it. New music on Fridays typically arrives at midnight ET / 9 p.m. PT. Treat the 8 p.m. claim as unverified and check Tate's official social accounts for any confirmed time before the release.
One detail didn't wait for the official announcement. At her Lollapalooza set in Chicago on August 2, 2026, the word "Housewife" flashed in lights above the stage. That was more than 2 months before she told anyone it was coming.
The Meaning Behind "Housewife": A Woman Who Can't Be Contained
Tate told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that the song is "about a woman who can't be contained."
The cover art fills in the rest. She's in a red bikini and sunglasses, pushing a pram stacked with dollar bills. The music video was filmed in the south of France.
This is not the same Tate McRae who wrote teen heartbreak anthems. The whole framing is cash-stroller confidence.
Tate McRae's Next Move: TM4 Album, the Producers, and the Victoria's Secret Show
"Housewife" is just the opening move. It's the lead single from TM4, Tate's fourth studio album. No release date for the full album has been announced yet.
The confirmed producers on TM4 so far are Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, and Daniel Nigro. Tedder said of the sessions: "The music is phenomenal...She's on another level of writing and inspiration."
Your first chance to hear "Housewife" live could come just 3 days after the single drops. Tate is scheduled to perform at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on October 18, 2026.

Why "Housewife" Marks a Shift for Tate McRae
"Housewife" follows the So Close to What era, which included the hit "Sports Car." That era leaned into confessional, emotionally raw pop. "Housewife" looks like the next chapter: bolder, more self-assured, and deliberately provocative.
The production team on TM4 already includes Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, and Daniel Nigro. That combination gives the album room to go somewhere ambitious.
