KATSEYE is getting their second documentary. This new one is called "Wild Hearts," and it hits theaters on August 12, 2026, just two days before their new EP "Wild" drops. Their first documentary, "Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE," was an 8-episode series that streamed on Netflix back in 2024, covering how they were picked out of a global talent competition and formed as a group. "Wild Hearts" is different: instead of a streaming series, it's playing in actual movie theaters, making it their first film built for the big screen instead of a phone or TV screen. Both documentaries share the same director, Nadia Hallgren, who's now back to film this next chapter. For a group that only debuted in 2024, that's two documentaries in two years. Here's how they got here.

How KATSEYE Got Big Enough for a Documentary
The moment that really blew things up was a Gap ad. In 2025, KATSEYE starred in Gap's "Better in Denim" campaign, dancing to Kelis' "Milkshake." The ad hit 400 million views in three days and reportedly helped push Gap's sales up as well. It was the kind of viral moment that turns a group people vaguely know into a group everyone's talking about.
After that, the brand deals kept coming: Fendi, Glossier, Urban Outfitters, and a Super Bowl ad for State Farm. They played Coachella in 2026. And by the end of the year, they picked up two Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist.
That's basically two years, going from a group most people had never heard of to Grammy nominees with a movie deal.
Their Top 5 Songs, by the Numbers
Here's how KATSEYE's five biggest songs stack up, ranked by total Spotify streams:
| Rank | Song | Released | Chart Peak | Spotify Streams |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | "Touch" | Jul 26, 2024 | #58 Global 200 | 454.9M |
| 2 | "Gabriela" | Jun 20, 2025 | #21 Hot 100 | 256.6M |
| 3 | "Gnarly" | Apr 30, 2025 | #82 Hot 100 | 255.6M |
| 4 | "Debut" | Jun 28, 2024 | Did not chart | 158.2M |
| 5 | "Gameboy" | Jun 27, 2025 | #131 Global 200 | 88.7M |
A few things stand out here. "Touch" is their biggest song by total streams, but it never even made the actual Billboard Hot 100, just the "Bubbling Under" list below it. It became a hit slowly, through radio and TikTok, instead of a big chart debut. "Gabriela" and "Gnarly," on the other hand, are the two songs that got them onto the real Hot 100, with "Gabriela" reaching the highest spot of the two, at No. 21. And "Debut," their very first single ever, still has more streams than most artists ever get on any song.
What's Actually New About KATSEYE
KATSEYE was created by HYBE, one of the biggest K-pop companies in the world, working directly with Geffen Records, a major U.S. label under Universal Music Group. The group came out of a competition show, "The Debut: Dream Academy," which picked members from over 120,000 applicants worldwide. And from the start, KATSEYE has been marketed as "global pop," not K-pop, even though they were trained using the same system K-pop groups use.
That's the actual first: the first time a major K-pop company and a major American label built a group together this way, on purpose designed to sit outside the K-pop label entirely. Whether that succeeds long-term is still playing out, but it's a different business model than anything that came before it.
