Meet Vortex, a wormhole-style particle tunnel in VibeSynced. Streaking star particles pull inward toward a glowing center, warping and pulsing with every hit. It's built for music with a strong, driving beat and big buildup-to-drop moments.
What Vortex looks like
Vortex renders a tunnel of particles in gold, orange, peach, cyan, blue, and white, all streaking inward like you're falling through a wormhole. Each particle leaves a short trail behind it, so the whole scene reads as motion even during quieter passages. On hard hits, a pressure wave ripples outward through the tunnel before being pulled back in.
How your music drives it
Vortex uses four independent frequency channels to animate the scene. Each one controls a different layer of the visual:
| Band | What it controls | Sounds in this range |
|---|---|---|
| Bass | Strength of the inward pull and the size of pressure-wave bursts on hits. | Kick drum, sub-bass, drops |
| Mid | Density and color mix of the streaking particle stream. | Synths, leads, vocal chops |
| Treble | Shimmer and length of the star trails. | Hi-hats, risers, cymbals |
| Volume | Overall tunnel speed, how fast particles pull toward the center. | Loudness, buildups, drops |
Music that works best with Vortex
Vortex was built around big, driving beats and buildup/drop structure, the effect is strongest when there's a clear pulse to warp to.
- EDM and big-room house, the pull-and-pulse rhythm matches drop structure almost perfectly.
- Trance, long buildups let the tunnel wind up before a release hits.
- Dubstep and drum & bass, hard-hitting bass gives the pressure waves something to punch through.
- Techno (four-on-the-floor), steady kicks keep the pull constant and hypnotic.
Slower, sparser music, lo-fi, ambient, acoustic, won't give Vortex enough to react to. The tunnel needs a clear, driving pulse to warp to. For that kind of music, Waves or Lofi Night will feel much more natural.
Tips for getting the most out of Vortex
1. Combine it with Theater Mode. Press T to clear the UI entirely. The tunnel effect reads much better full-screen with nothing else on screen.
2. Play it loud. Vortex's pull and pressure waves respond to loud, hard-hitting bass. Quiet playback undersells the effect.
3. Use it for drops. Cue up a track right before a big drop and watch the buildup wind the tunnel tighter before it releases.
4. Pair with a projector. The depth illusion in Vortex scales up well on a bigger screen, useful for parties or shared viewing.
Open VibeSynced → click Particles in the top nav → select VORTEX in the Visual Engine grid. Then load a track and press T for theater mode.
What's next
Vortex is the seventh visual engine in VibeSynced, joining Galaxy, Shapes, Doodle, Sunset, Techno, and Waves.
If you have a genre, artist, or type of visual you'd like to see supported, the best way to influence what gets built next is to use the app and send feedback. We read everything.
Vortex is live right now. Load something with a hard drop and see what happens.
