Why Is Ben Folds Five Touring Now?
Stereogum ties the tour to the recent 30th-anniversary deluxe reissue of their 1995 self-titled debut, Ben Folds Five. That makes this a birthday run for the album that started it all.
The April shows are only the first leg. Stereogum was told a more extensive tour is coming, and more dates will be announced.
Ben Folds Five Setlist Predictions
No setlist has been released yet. These are just guesses.
Ben Folds' recent solo run in Australia included a few Ben Folds Five songs: "Brick", "Army", and "Song for the Dumped". We'd bet on all three, plus songs from the debut album, since the tour follows its reissue.
When Was Ben Folds Five's Last Tour?
Their previous reunion tour wrapped up in 2013. That makes this their first tour since 2013.
They have played once since then: a one-off hometown show at Cat's Cradle in 2023. Some outlets round the gap to 13, 14, or 15 years, but 2013 is the date to go by. (More: Radiohead's 2027 Asia-Pacific tour, another long-awaited return.)
What This Tour Means for Ben Folds Five's Career
For years, seeing the three of them together was a rare thing. Now they have a reissued debut, a full tour, and more dates still to come.
It looks like a real return, not a one-night reunion. Nothing beyond April is confirmed yet.
