What Happens in the Video
Ariana plays a character named Pepper, an actress auditioning in front of a room of male executives at a fake talent agency called Fame Inc. They tell her she's not good enough and not "authentic." She doesn't take it well. The video ends with her turning a chainsaw on the entire room.
It's shot to look like an old-school 1950s movie, and it runs more than twice as long as the song itself, more like a short film than a normal music video. The message is pretty clear: it's about how the industry judges women, especially on how they look and act, and Ariana pushing back on that.
