Panchiko Chimera: Release Date, Single, and Guests

Panchiko just announced a new album called Chimera, due April 9 on Nettwerk. The first single, "One Car Hits Another", features Mei Semones, and the album is packed with guests. Here's the release date, the guests, and a quick intro to the band if you're new.

Panchiko Chimera Release Date and Key Details

• Album: Chimera, 12 tracks, made at the band's own studio.
• Release date: April 9, via Nettwerk.
• Lead single: "One Car Hits Another" featuring Mei Semones, track 2 on the album.
• Sound: shoegaze, hip-hop, pop and balladry.

What Does "One Car Hits Another" Sound Like?

The single blends distorted textures with cosmic melodies. It mixes Britpop with indie rock.

Andy Wright says he "imagined a serene waltz of a car crash." That fits a song that sounds both hazy and a little dangerous.

Who Is on Panchiko's Chimera? Mei Semones and More

Mei Semones appears on 3 tracks, more than any other guest we know of:

• "One Car Hits Another"
• "Glazing" (with Hugh Pascall)
• "Zinc Spark" (with Korea Girl)

The other guests are billy woods, Cotillon, Clarion, Abby Sage, CJ's Mirra Maze and Lula Nova.

Who Is Panchiko?

Panchiko formed in Nottingham in the late 1990s and faded away. Then a copy of their early release turned up in a charity shop in 2016, and that led to a reunion.

Since then they've put out Failed at Math(s) in 2023 and Ginkgo in 2025. Chimera is next.

They're also touring the UK and Ireland now, including London's Roundhouse and Dublin's Vicar Street. More dates are expected, but we don't have a full list yet.

Why Does a Guest-Heavy Album Matter for Panchiko?

Going from shoegaze to hip-hop to pop to ballads, with that many guests, is a big stretch for one record. It shows a band that started as a lost CD now building a wide circle of collaborators.
