What Is Batman Day?

Batman Day is an annual event from DC and Warner Bros. built around comic releases, in-store events, and screenings at your local comic shop. DC started it in 2014 to mark Batman's 75th anniversary, and it stuck around every year after that. It now lands on the third Saturday of September, which puts Batman Day 2026 on September 19.

So How Old Is Batman, Really?

Batman first showed up in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. He was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, though Finger didn't get official credit as co-creator until decades later, well after his death. The Song Everyone Remembers From The Batman (2022)

Matt Reeves' The Batman leaned on one song harder than any other: Nirvana's "Something in the Way." It first showed up in the movie's very first teaser back in 2020, then ran through the actual film. Composer Michael Giacchino even wove pieces of the song into Batman's own musical theme.

The 2020 teaser that introduced the world to this pairing — Nirvana's "Something in the Way" under Robert Pattinson's first look as Batman.

It worked. The song pulled in 3.1 million US streams in just the first four days after the movie hit theaters, and climbed back onto the Billboard charts more than 30 years after Nirvana first put it out.

What's Going On With The Batman Part II?

The sequel has had a rough road. It was supposed to open in October 2026, then got pushed to October 2027, and now sits at February 18, 2028. Filming started in June 2026, and the cast has grown to include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, and Brian Tyree Henry. Zoë Kravitz is not returning as Catwoman.

No songs have been announced yet, but Michael Giacchino is confirmed to return and score the movie again, so expect another moody, memorable soundtrack whenever it finally arrives.
